Home Start South Leicestershire is a local community network of trained volunteers and expert support is there to help families with young children across Harborough District through their challenging times. At The Business Hut, we are all parents, so this charity really struck a cord with us and we know how valuable the work they do is.

Established 1984 in Market Harborough, they are one of a network of independent Home‑Start charities within a worldwide Federation led by Home-Start UK. Many local families with young children, especially pre-school ages, struggling to cope with the difficulties they are facing like…
- Illness or disability
- Bereavement or loss
- Loneliness or isolation
- Financial or housing problems
Sometimes, everyone needs a bit of extra help, and the help they give includes:
- Help at home or in the community with a matched family support volunteer
- Support groups for parents and pre-school children
- Courses for parents with pre-school children
- Coordinator support to access other help
Additional Services that developed during the Coronavirus period are:
- Telephone, virtual or outdoor support from a volunteer or Coordinator
- Virtual and remotely delivered courses
- Activity and Story videos
- On-line information and updates
- Deliveries of essential items and supplies
- ‘Buddying Service’ – matching families together
- Virtual and Outdoor drop-in groups
- ‘Push and Play’ Sessions in local parks
Fundraising to run services
- It costs around £15 per week to support a child.
- The charity has a small paid staff team, and a much larger volunteer team.
- It costs around £200,000 a year to run all the services.
Every year Home Start fundraise for all costs through applications for grants, donations from individuals, organisations and companies, and fundraising events and activities. Any help they get to meet these costs means they can spend more time helping families. That's why we are hoping to raise as much a possible to help support them.

Come and cheer us on 11th June 2022! The race will start off from Symingtons show ground and take in part of the carnival parade as well as running by the iconic Old Grammar School you will also be taking in the beautiful Grand Union Canal on the route.
